We spent some time exploring magnets and magnetic objects. Then we talked about what we already know about magnets. The children collectively agreed that only things that are made from metal are magnetic. One of us thought that only specific types of metal were magnetic. Then we were challenged to get the paper clip out of the container without getting our hands wet. Some of us were getting frustrated because we thought that it was impossible!

But then Mrs Farmer said that we didn’t have to use the magnet only… One of us decided it might be a good idea to use some string tied to the magnet as well. We all tried it and it worked!
