Children in the primary phase are organised into four main teaching groups. Teaching of the core subjects of Maths, English and Science takes place mainly in the mornings. Other subjects are taught in the afternoon sessions.
Pupils in Reception are in the Foundation Stage. Pupils in yrs 1 and 2 are in Key Stage 1 (KS1). Pupils in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are in Key Stage 2 (KS2).
Much of the teaching takes place in groups – the grouping arrangements remain flexible in order to allow for a range of social and academic interactions. Some of the teaching takes place individually and some with the whole class. The ranges of groupings allow more able children to work alongside older children where appropriate.
We also have a nursery on-site which caters for pupils from 2 year old upwards. They work within a purpose built section of our school, under the teaching of our Nursery Leader Steph Hughes. The pupils from our nursery join the older children for worship, lunches and other activities across the week as well as forest school and visits, on occasion.
