Hedgehogs Home Learning – Wednesday 1st July

Reception: Today you will recall the story Beegu, by Alexis Deacon, and draw a story map to help you remember the plot. You will consider the different ways Beegu felt throughout the story and what caused these feelings. You can extend this lesson by thinking of an action step for each part of the story, focusing on using facial expressions

Year 1: Today’s lesson is all about plural nouns. You will be learning about adding the suffix -s to a noun to make it plural.

Topic:

Wildlife Wednesday: Get yourself a piece of paper and a pencil. Find a place to sit in the garden (or sit by an open window). If you’re outside pop a mark in the middle of the paper, if you’re by a window pop a mark at the edge of the paper. This mark represents where you’re sat. Close your eyes, be quiet and listen to the naturals sounds around you. Open your eyes and mark it on the paper with something that represents the sound and where it is in relation to you i.e. a bird at the top of their paper to represent a bird in the distance in front of them singing.

I wonder what kinds of noises you’ll hear in your garden…

I hope your week got off to a good start. I needed a hot chocolate when I got home from school yesterday I was a bit chilly!! I can’t believe it’s the last day in June, this month seems to have flown by – hopefully July will bring some sunshine for us 🙂

Rabbits – Home learning for Tuesday 30th June

Goodness me Rabbits – its the end of June!

How are you?  All well and ready to work today?  You are doing so well sticking with this home learning.  So for today – here are your tasks:

Reading:  I am keen that you all keep on with your reading books – but I have found these lovely stories for you to read – select the level of difficulty that you think you would like to have.  *  **  ***

English:  To continue work from the plan that you made yesterday, we are going to construct the first part of the narrative.

BEGINNING:  you write the following paragraphs:

1:  A description of the boat, and where it is sailing at the start.  You could write this from the boat’s perspective – remember you need to use “I”  if you are doing that.

Add sentences that describe how the boat moves – think about using adjectives and verbs – how it moves might be described by the direction, the motion that it has in the water, or you could think about how the boat might ‘feel’ if it is a character – is it a brave boat?  Is it a curious boat – adventurous?

2:  A narrative of where the boat would like to travel, or where it is likely to travel.  You put this part of the language into future tense “the boat might go to ….. the boat will travel to ….. the boat will be ……”

3:  A third paragraph to transition between the first location of the boat’s journey and what happens next.

PLEASE DON’T DO ANY MORE!  I have a plan for tomorrow which needs you to stop where you are now.

PSHE – Health

You were thinking about skin and learning about soap yesterday.  Today we are going to do more about health but this is about exercise.

We have been doing Joe Wicks through the holidays and I am also doing this curious kids’ workout now some of the children are back at school – have a look:

For today – I would like you to design a great work out around the house.  You don’t need to stay in one place, but you need to use your home in interesting ways.

For example, climbing up and down stairs is great exercise for your large muscles in your legs and bottom and tummy.

Plumping cushions and pillows is great for your arms.

Sweeping or mopping is excellent for pectoral muscles (in your chest) and your back.

SO … please have a look around your home (and outside) and complete a work out routine that has 9 different exercises.

When you have the exercises planned you need to fill in the chart attached with the details.  You can then share this with your friends!

Virtual Half Marathon Finisher: Rhys Viner!

A HUGE well done to our first Half Marathon Finisher, Rhys Viner, who has completed 13.1 miles in his own time including a brilliant 5k in 29:55 mins but even more impressively a 15km run! It took him 1 hour and 52 minutes! WOW!

Rhys – you have done brilliantly and I know you have supported your Dad complete his own challenge of an extra 1km per calendar day in June, raising money for MIND.

We are very proud of you and hope to see you soon to be presented with your medal.

Dragonfly Class – Monday 29th June

Good morning Dragonflies,

I hope you’re all well, happy and safe. I’ve had a weekend taken up by puppy play! 🐾💛 Little Nell has settled beautifully and is FULL of mischief; she particularly likes toilet rolls, hair brushes and the broom! My house is a mess with things found in very strange places 😆 Briar has come round to her a bit more too although I still have plenty of 1:1 time with B to reassure her we still love her just as much!
