At the end of SATs week, our Year 6s were delighted to receive their Leavers Hoodies! How great (and grown up!) do they look? A huge well done to them all for working so hard in their SATs.

What a fantastic forest school session the children have had today! 🤩 They had a very busy afternoon doing “mud mining” and water collecting. They carried the mud and water to the water barrel where they filled it up and made the base secure. They all worked really hard and there was some fantastic team working going on! Well done team! 🌟
Today we bid farewell to our brilliant Nursery Leader, Mrs Steph Hughes, who has led Nursery in the village for an incredible 24 years! Steph is moving on to a new role in the NHS and we wish her all the very best in her next chapter. She will be very missed, but has already been working on a handover with our new Nursery Leader, Mrs Lauren Taundry, who has a background in Nursery education and is delighted to be joining us at Ruyton. We wish her a very warm welcome to our great team!
Today we awarded our Corbet Cross Country Runners with their winners certificates. We are so proud of our success, but even more of the fact that every single pupil in KS2 competed in this event. Well done Team Ruyton! Check out all our brilliant winners below!

This term in Computing, the Year 1 & 2 children are creating an audio book. They spent some time comparing the similarities and differences between hard copies of books, eBooks and audio books.
This week, we listened to an audio version of the story “Tiddalik”. We listened really carefully to different sound effects that were used in the story. Then we read the story Cinderella and thought about the different sound effects that we could use for this story. The children were put into pairs and were given a page of the story each to plan as an audio book. They had a fantastic time exploring the different musical instruments in the music room. I can’t wait to hear the finished audio book!

On Friday 29th April, the Bomere and the XI Towns Young Voices Choir went to Resorts World Arena to perform in the Young Voices Concert 2022.
We had a fabulous day, rehearsing in the afternoon before performing with 113 other schools in the evening concert as the culmination of months of practice. We were especially lucky to be able to perform alongside saxophonist Yolanda Brown (from CBeebies), R&B and soul singer Ruby Turner, world beatbox champions The Beatbox Collective and learn some awesome dance moves from Urban Strides.
We were all very tried by the end of the day but are already looking forward to next year’s concert!
Here are some photos of our day.

We held our annual Easter Egg Hunt today: the sun shone, the children smiled as they worked brilliantly in teams across the school, whilst the staff had fun hiding eggs! Another one for memory book at St John’s 🙂
