Today we had a visit from Supersonic Sue the Scientist. She showed us some exciting Science experiments and she even set fire to Miss Whit!
She is running a Science club from Friday 20th January. If you would like to take part please follow the link on the clubs letter you will receive soon.
Welcome back to our new term and a very warm welcome to the children who have joined us as new starters this week: Ellie (Owls), Emilia (Dragonflies), Sam (Dragonflies), Toby (Rabbits) and Mwaita (Hedgehogs). We are delighted to have you as part of the St John’s family!

Golden Book Awards (earned through culmination of class stars / quality marks e.g. 40 Quality Marks in Owls earns 1 golden book)

All of the children in Bumblebees have been working incredibly hard writing their names every day and they have all made incredible progress since September.

Happy New Year to you all! We hope that you have had a wonderful Christmas break and that you’ve recovered from the festive activities. We’re delighted to welcome Mrs Pearce to Hedgehog Class this term. She will be teaching the children on Thursday’s and Friday’s.

We had an absolute BALL on Tuesday (13th December) as Shropshire Music Service Band visited and performed for the whole school! They played a string of hits: Sweet Caroline, We Will Rock You and Eye of the Tiger to name a few (the staff enjoyed it as much as the children!) They also taught us about each of the instruments they were playing. We had a great time!
Rabbits must have all been very good this year because we all got to meet Father Christmas AND he gave us a present. What a magical afternoon!
A huge thank you to the Friends of Ruyton for raising the money to fund our trip to Theatre Severn for the Christmas pantomime this week. We had a brilliant time with LOTS of laughter, singing and dancing! Aoife even made it on to stage!
We continue to be very grateful to the Friends for making occasions like this happen for all of our children.

Whilst the rest of the school were at the theatre on Wednesday, Bumblebees had a fun afternoon planned.
We started off with a big game of hide and seek around the whole school to burn off some energy. The children were very excited to hide in the ‘big children’ classrooms and were amazed at how quiet and calm the school was without anyone there.
We then settled down to watch a movie on the beanbags, with cookies and milk.
We all had great fun and surprisingly, the children managed to stay awake until the end of the film. What a lovely afternoon Bumblebees!
