Playtime at St John’s became even more enjoyable today as the field has dried up under the spring sunshine! It was a pleasure to see all the children playing in the fields and enjoying the sensory garden which Mrs Lister has been busy tending to.

We are delighted to share the report following our recent Ofsted inspection (5/6th March). I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your help, support and dedication to enable this report to be such a super reflection of the work in our school.
I am sure you will also join me in saying a massive well done to both pupils and staff for the hard work over the past years to achieve this outcome.
As you can see, we now have a number of aspects judged outstanding – this is testament to the developments and changes which have been put in place over a number of years and again, I would like to say a big thank you to all who have shared their suggestions and worked with us to make this develop so positively for the children in our school.
Best wishes,
Julie Ball
Executive Headteacher
Thank you for all the donations for Comic Relief on Friday; the school looked brilliant as a sea of red and over £105 was raised! The children were very proud to be sporting painted noses instead of plastic ones; Eco Team (school Council) thanked everyone for supporting this campaign and sharing an important message.
Don’t forget that Paula & Tracey will be preparing a ‘Hearty Lunch’ tomorrow (please let us know if you would like to join the children for lunch, parents are more than welcome, but you would need to let us know no later than 9am). We are sending home updated invoices for Nursery & Breakfast/After School Club this afternoon, could you please ensure that all outstanding balances are cleared no later than Friday morning (15th Feb). Likewise, would you please arrange to come in to clear outstanding Dinner Money (If you are not sure what/if you owe, please contact the school office (01939 260445)). After School Activity Clubs run either side of each half term, but not for the First 2 and Last 2 weeks of each full term. We break up on Friday and hope you have lots of exciting things planned for next week. We look forward to seeing you back after Half Term on Monday 25th February 2019.
In our current Topic we are learning about Countries, the different types of food that may be eaten and how we could travel to them.
We began by exploring various foods and sorting them into food groups.
We sorted foods by matching them to the Country where they may be eaten, also looking at the flag for these Countries.
Today we learnt about the United States of America, The Mayflower, Pilgrims and Native American Indians. We then built the ‘Mayflower’ using large waffles in the playground.
