Welcome back
Welcome back to our new term – it was lovely to see all the children arriving with smiles on their faces ready for the start of our Autumn term. I hope you have all enjoyed a super holiday in the sunshine.
We have a busy term ahead with Harvest, School photographs, Remembrance, School performances, Christingle and Christmas so keep an eye on the diary events over the next few weeks for updates. The staff will be sending out their termly overviews later this week and, as always, we value any support with the topic areas being covered. A big Ruyton welcome to all our new starters this term both in the nursery, the reception class and across the school. We have two new teachers this term; Miss Poppy Morris (in Rabbits class) and Mrs Sally Johnson (in Hedgehogs class) as well as Mrs Helen Whitaker, Mrs Emma Quigley, Mrs Tracey Green and Mr Wayne Gwilliam-Petty as teaching assistants. Preparation for Young Voices in Birmingham will begin soon as will our other clubs – letters to follow shortly. Our school values display has been updated in the hall with our value for this month being ‘Trust’ ; we have shared this together in worship this morning.

Message from Friends of St Johns
As we are rapidly approaching the summer holidays and Fun Fest has happened we would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank our very generous sponsors, all those that donated towards the event, and all those that supported us by attending, without which none of it would have been possible. It was fantastic to see the community coming together to enjoy the beautiful sunny day with fun, laughter, friends, food and entertainment. We had an amazing day and we hope that you all enjoyed it as much as we did! A special thanks to Barry Oldham who couldn’t have been better as our Master of Ceremonies and all the acts and shows that provided fantastic entertainment in the arena. We are very pleased to confirm that we have superseded last years Fun Fest and you have all managed to raise a truly astounding £3,833.13 from the event which will go into the Friends Fund and support and enhance the learning and experience of the children at the school. We are eagerly awaiting two new outdoor learning sheds that have been ordered and will be received for the start of the new term in September.
It was also fantastic to see Amey and her family join us for Fun Fest and great to see her progressing steadily on her road to recovery. At the request of the children, the money that was made from the stocks (£195) will go to Amey to help support her continued recovery.
Finally, we would like to say that any feedback or ideas you have on the events we run is always greatly appreciated so that we can continue to improve and make forthcoming events bigger and better so please do drop us a line (friends@ruyton.shropshire.sch.uk) or speak to any of us committee members when you see us. We are also always looking to gain supporters so that we can achieve more so if you would like to get involved, either on the committee or as a helper at the events we run, please do let us know or ask for more information.
Have a great summer holiday everyone and we look forward to seeing you in the new term in September where we will be having a “Meet the new parents” event in Café Eleven after school on Friday 14th September and would like to invite any current parents who would like to come and welcome the new parents into our community.
Kind regards,
Friends of St John the Baptist School

Welcome Back Amey!
We are so very pleased to be able to share the news that Amey is home. Her family are all very relieved that she has been discharged and that she can settle back in at home and get on with recovering further. We would like (with the permission of Amey’s family) to take this opportunity to remind everyone (young and old) about the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bicycle/scooter. We wish Amey a speedy recovery and send our love and best wishes to all of the family.
