Yesterday, the year 1 children learnt some new skills. We had to be really careful with the kitchen equipment that we were using! The children were so grown up using the utensils! Here we are preparing some vegetables…

A Frosty Morning
Hedgehog Class had a fantastic time in the frost yesterday morning. We went out to explore where it had come from and what would happen to it if we touched it. Some of us were shocked at how cold the frost felt on our hands! And we were fascinated by how quickly the ice that we found melted when we held it tight in our hands. Here’s some of the fun that we had outside…
The River Drumbles!
Hedgehog Class had a great time up at the Drumbles a couple of weeks ago… We had been looking at water flow and had been practising making little rivers using plastic equipment for a couple of weeks. We then decided to make a huge “River Drumbles” as a whole class. The children worked superbly as a team and here are their results…
Children in Need in pictures : £243.38 !!!
We baked…. we dressed up… we made masks…. and we had GREAT FUN raising lots of money for a brilliant cause: Children in Need!
Fun & Games Cluncil planned the events, ran the bake sale and mask competition. The total amount of money flabbergasted us all! Well done to all the children who got involved – a brilliant effort all round.
Children in Need 15th November – non-uniform day
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a non-uniform day in aid of Children in Need – could children please bring in £1 donation. We will also be holding a bake sale at break and lunchtime, so we would be very grateful for donations of cakes and bakes – these will be 50p each. Thanks.
A matter of particles…
Dragonflies had great fun being particles this afternoon! We explored the differences between solids, liquids and gases in science.
Visitors to School – views of two visitors to Ruyton school – Outstanding school
Mr and Mrs Gittins joined us in school for a visit on Thursday last week. It gave us a lovely opportunity to thank them for the wonderful forest school and school fields they support us with as well as showing them around our school during a normal school day. It was lovely to receive a letter of thanks from them, following their visit, in which they said;
‘…we were more than impressed by what we saw as we walked around, we had a wonderful feeling of being in a busy but happy place.’
‘We thought the children were delightful, they were polite, well-mannered and yet not afraid to speak up with their opinions. There also appeared to be a very close relationship between pupils and their teachers, which was a delight to see and in all we felt that the school is for sure a very special institution and one that we should all cherish and be very proud of.’
‘Please thank the members of staff who spent time talking to us and showing us a little of the wonderful facilities the school has and just what the children are capable of, but no matter what facilities a school may have there is nothing more important to a good school than dedicated staff and this is something Ruyton school has in abundance.’
‘I am convinced that for those parents who are looking for an outstanding school for their children, then Ruyton must become their obvious choice..’
Well done to pupils and staff for showing our visitors what a fantastic school we have here in Ruyton and a big thank you to Mr and Mrs Gittins for joining us last week and for all they do for our pupils!
