Well-Being Wednesday from Mrs Viner
I don’t know about you, but I really like setting myself a daily goal to achieve by the end of the day! It gives me something to focus on and a great sense of achievement when I complete it! 👏
A Collective Worship with Mrs Burns
Mrs Burns has prepared this lovely worship for us all. It is aimed at keeping us all connected whilst we are apart.

Prayers for our School Community
Rev. Hannah Lins has sent this prayer to all the families and staff at Ruyton School. It is a beautiful prayer and she was happy that we share it with all of you on our website.

Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Beam – Phone-based support
Over the last 2 weeks we have been working on how we can continue to provide support for the young people who access our drop-in services.
From 2nd April 2020, Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Beam will be offering a call-back telephone service.
Please note that we are not offering a crisis or instant response service.
The support being offered is purely phone-based. We cannot provide support via email, text/messaging apps or on video calling platforms.
Accessing call-back support:
Young people can email us at AskBeam@childrenssociety.org.uk asking for support. Once they have emailed, an automatic response will ask for some more information. When this has been completed, a team member will contact them to discuss what help they need, and when the best time would be for a practitioner to call them.
Calls will be booked in with our practitioners within our usual drop-in times.
Accessing support without a call back:
Where a young person does not want to talk but still needs some support, they can still contact us via AskBeam@childrenssociety.org.uk. We can send details of online resources, information and apps which can offer support.
Information for Professionals:
You can signpost any young people who you feel would benefit from knowing more about this offer to our website https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/beam/coronavirus.
You can also pass on the details as to how they get in touch with us. Please ask the young person to contact us via AskBeam@childrenssociety.org.uk.
We won’t be able to contact young people unless the request for contact from our service has come from the young person or their parent/carer.
For all young people who are aged 13 and under, their parent/carer will need to make a request on the young person’s behalf.
As with our face to face drop-ins, the young person should want to engage with us, and be able to do so over the phone.
Information for Parents/carers:
If you feel your child(ren)/young person would benefit from our support, please take a look at our website https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/beam/coronavirus.
For young people aged 13+ please ask them to contact us via AskBeam@childrenssociety.org.uk.
For young people who are aged 13 and under, you will need to contact us on their behalf via AskBeam@childrenssociety.org.uk.
As with our face to face drop-ins, the young person should want to engage with us, and be able to do so over the phone.
We will continue to innovate and adapt as we need to. This is an enormous effort from every corner of The Children’s Society to ensure we can continue to offer support to the children and young people we work with. For more information about how our charity is working at the moment, or to donate to our emergency Coronavirus appeal, please go to our website at https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/
Children in Need 15th November – non-uniform day
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a non-uniform day in aid of Children in Need – could children please bring in £1 donation. We will also be holding a bake sale at break and lunchtime, so we would be very grateful for donations of cakes and bakes – these will be 50p each. Thanks.
Visitors to School – views of two visitors to Ruyton school – Outstanding school
Mr and Mrs Gittins joined us in school for a visit on Thursday last week. It gave us a lovely opportunity to thank them for the wonderful forest school and school fields they support us with as well as showing them around our school during a normal school day. It was lovely to receive a letter of thanks from them, following their visit, in which they said;
‘…we were more than impressed by what we saw as we walked around, we had a wonderful feeling of being in a busy but happy place.’
‘We thought the children were delightful, they were polite, well-mannered and yet not afraid to speak up with their opinions. There also appeared to be a very close relationship between pupils and their teachers, which was a delight to see and in all we felt that the school is for sure a very special institution and one that we should all cherish and be very proud of.’
‘Please thank the members of staff who spent time talking to us and showing us a little of the wonderful facilities the school has and just what the children are capable of, but no matter what facilities a school may have there is nothing more important to a good school than dedicated staff and this is something Ruyton school has in abundance.’
‘I am convinced that for those parents who are looking for an outstanding school for their children, then Ruyton must become their obvious choice..’
Well done to pupils and staff for showing our visitors what a fantastic school we have here in Ruyton and a big thank you to Mr and Mrs Gittins for joining us last week and for all they do for our pupils!
Film Club – Start Date
Film Club starts next week (Thursday 31st January 2019). This is due to Young Voices taking place tomorrow. If your child has signed up for Film Club (and is not attending Young Voices) they will need to be collected from school at 3.15pm on Thursday 24th January 2019. If you need to use After School Care Club, could you please ensure you book a place as soon as possible. Many thanks.
Christmas Party – food contributions
Just to clarify that children should be bringing a contribution of party food to share (only small amounts as they will already have had lunch). We’re aware that there was some confusion at home time today and we are not doing ‘own plates’ this year; please stick to plans in original parent letter.
Also please make sure children bring their party clothes with them to get changed at lunch time.
Thank you!
