Rabbits Class home learning Tuesday 21st April

Good Morning Rabbits!  Welcome back to day 2 of the Summer Term.  I really loved seeing the work that some of you have been doing both yesterday and over the Easter holidays.

For today, I have been looking at the many activities and games that are now on line for you.  For this morning, I would like you to do the following:

English:  BBC Bitesize – there is a great grammar game called The Crystal Explorers.  Click on www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics and follow the links through daily lessons to the game.  It will test your knowledge of all or the grammar facts that you should know!  See how you get on.

English: Can you continue your newspaper by writing a letter to the editor, (I know you are also the editor but your letter can be written as another person).  You need to begin the letter “Dear Sir,” and then write about all of the amazing changes that you can see outside.  You might be going for a daily walk, or you might have a garden that you can spend time in and see what flowers are now in bloom or what animals you can see.  Write your letter to tell the editor all about the changes you have seen whilst being at home.  Sign the letter “Yours faithfully,” and make up a great name for yourself.  If you are a bit stuck – I have attached a guideline for your: Letter to Editor

Maths: I have set some tasks on Mymaths and also Education City. These are smaller and not so time-consuming.  If you are struggling with any of these programmes there are also daily lessons on the same topic (fractions) on whiterose maths, many of you are having some issues opening these sites at the moment.

Reading: Reading Eggs and ReadingEggspress are loaded with good books for you all to work through.  Don’t forget to read actual books!  Now is a good time to see if your family have any books on garden birds or trees and plants to help you identify the species that you see in your surroundings.

Project: I would like you to have a go at drawing the globe – the sphere that we call Earth!  You might like to look at these images to help you.   This shows Africa, Arabia and a bit of the south of the UK if you look carefully!

This shows North and South America

See how well you can draw the image, you might draw around a side plate to get the perfect circle and then use your best judgement about how to draw the continents.

When you have drawn your globe you can colour it and keep it safe for tomorrow  –  We will be using it for a weather report!

Have a super day and email me with any problems.

Rabbits Class Home Learning For Monday 20th April

Welcome back to the Summer Term everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful Easter and were able to get out into the sunshine and have fun with your family.  Well we are back to work today and we have some great things that we are going to study while you are at home.

Maths: The clever people from White Rose Maths have put together a wonderful day by day maths class. You need to log on to https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/ (for year 3 pupils) and https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ if you are in year 2.  Then continue to follow the clicks to the correct day and follow instructions to complete the maths lessons.

English: I have set up some daily lessons on Education City – these will help you with a range of the English tasks this week and will be a different task each day to cover your comprehension, writing and grammar.  Work through the tasks set for Monday 20th only please.

Reading: I have put up some new resources on Reading Eggs – we would like to start using a new reading website – if you could contact me by email I can let you have your log-in and you can start working on the new set of books that are set for each of you.

Project: As we are back to work today I would also like you to begin a newspaper of your own.  Each day of this week I would like you to add an article to the paper and you will be either writing or drawing a chart, graph or weather map.  Today, I would like your first article to be written about the changes in the environment due to the lock-down.  You can write the report with a headline – a sub-heading and then the information that you can discover from looking at these suggested websites:

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/positive-impact-environment-coronavirus-lockdown-a4404751.html

https://www.countryliving.com/uk/wildlife/countryside/a32076758/planet-reacting-positively-global-lockdown/

Other sites show pictures of the clear skies, and clean water in canals – you might also discover something about your local environment, are there more birds singing?  Do you notice the blossom more that you normally would?  You might be able to take photos of your own environment as a picture in your newspaper.

Enjoy your research and look out for some different tasks tomorrow.

Welcome Back!  Mrs Cooke

Rabbits Home Learning for Wednesday 1st April

Happy April Fool’s Day and pinch, punch, first of the month to you all.

Reading and Comprehension:  Well Rabbits, for a bit of a change, I have set some lovely reading work on ReadingEggs but you need to click on to the ReadingEggspress – there you will find a picture of yourself – there will be a note from me to explain how to do the reading tasks.  There are also spellings for you to work through.  Remember to look for the two books that I have chosen for you to read.  They are quite funny, Pirates and Shark’s Fin Island.  If you click on ‘library’ they are there for you to open and read.

Maths: There are a few My Maths tasks set and you can work through these until the end of the week.  I have included fractions, shape and some general addition tasks to keep your little grey cells (brains) well oiled.

Cards:  I hope you were able to find some things to make an Easter Card.  I found this lovely instruction film of making paper rabbits for Easter – have a look and see if you can make them too.  Send me photos of your bunnies please!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zL_EQkqrmg

Keep on sending your pictures of the lovely activities that you have been doing whilst at home.  It is lovely to see how much fun you are all having.

Rabbits home learning Tuesday 31st March

Good Morning Rabbits

I hope you had fun making cards yesterday – let me have pictures when you have finished them won’t you?

Today:  English Grammar  these are set on Education City and should keep you busy with fronted adverbials.

Maths:  there are maths tasks on My Maths – these are fractions and division tasks.  Do your best!

Writing:  Can you please take the key words from this week’s spelling list and write up full sentences with each word.

Topic:  I have been seeing some wonderful topic activities that you have been doing.  Remember to take a task from the grid that we made and work on something different today.  You might like to think about the daily act of kindness at this time of year.  Again, keep a note of this in your diary.

I hope you enjoy today’s activities.  I miss you all!  Mrs Cooke

Rabbits home activities for Thursday 26th March

Good Morning Rabbits – how lovely to see some photographs of the things that you have been doing.  I really loved the shields and castles.  How creative you are!  I am also so impressed with your my maths.  Goodness me, some of you are getting 100% each time.  I have set you some more fun things today but if that sun is still shining, make sure you get outside too!

Maths

Some MyMaths tasks are set.  Also, we would be doing fractions next week – I have set tasks but it might be more fun to do some ‘sharing’ to find fractions of amounts.  I am sure you can find things at home – lego bricks, raisins, marbles etc and share between different numbers of your teddy bears or toys.  Keep track of how many toys get how many items.  Baking is also great for working out fractions – dividing your mixture between 8 people for example will give you 1/8 of the amount.

English

I hope you are all writing up your diary.  I am sure you have some lovely things to write about each day.  Don’t forget I love pictures too.  Education City has tasks set for your and it is always good to listen to stories.  Have a look at the podcast by David Walliams each day.

Spelling

You have some spellings on your list.  Keep on with these and then I will set some more words for next week.  I thought you might like some Easter themed words and some Spring time words.  Have a look for those on Monday.

Topic

I see you have been busy making lovely castles and items from the theme on Shrewsbury Castle.  Don’t forget you could build a castle den and show me the results.

Reading

Please, please, please keep on with your reading.  I was out in my garden today reading a book that I have wanted to read for ages.  Get out in that sunshine or lounge about on the sofa with a great book.  You could read it to a teddy bear if your adults are busy.  Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress have some books and activities.  There are class books set for you all to read and discuss later.

Exercise

I hope you were able to do the Joe Wicks exercise – I was pretty tired out after that this morning.  I did a lot of gardening afterwards which is also fabulous exercise.  See if your adults have something that you can do to help get the garden ready for spring.  Maybe next week you can sort out places for Easter Egg trails?

Have a lovely day.  Let me know how you are all getting on.  Take care of yourselves and your families.

Rabbits Class – Activities and Work for Wednesday 25th March

Good Morning Rabbits – well wasn’t the weather beautiful yesterday?  We should all be getting out into that sunshine if we can.  Even my cat decided to go on a small walk around the garden yesterday!

I have put some more activities for you on Education City and MyMaths.  You are doing so well with these, congratulations!

Grammar and Writing

Education City has some more tasks and activities.  If you want to continue writing up your ‘work at home diary’ that would be good.  I would like to hear about the things you are doing while we are away from class.  Remember to include pictures or drawings if you can.

Maths

My Maths tasks are set for the next day.  I am working you though your addition and subtraction to begin with – we will then be ready for fractions just before the Easter holidays begin.

Reading

Now is the perfect time to get outside with a good book and get yourselves lost in the story.  I have put up some books on Reading Eggs but you could all find yourselves something at home too.  Get someone to photograph you reading somewhere ‘odd’ over the next few days.  I will do the same and share the photos with you when I can.

Exercise

We are all going to try to do the Joe Wicks work-out each morning to get us all ready and raring to go.  You can find this on YouTube – we are doing this at 9.00 am for half an hour.

Spellling

Keep working through the list of spellings that you have been given.  Use this to improve handwriting at the same time.

Stay safe everyone!

Missing you all,  Mrs Cooke
