On Wednesday, a squad of 8 players from Year 4, 5 and 6 headed out to the Corbet School for the area Dodgeball competition. We are absolutely DELIGHTED to announce that the team had amazing success and finished second, qualifying for the North Shropshire Finals in Spring term! Well done to all the children – especially Year 4 Otto for stepping-up and facing the older opposition!

Experience Eucharist – Church Visit
Owl Class had a great morning out at the Church this morning for Experiencing the Eucharist, an event organised by Reverend Lucinda and Reverend Hannah with the support of the Church group. The children from Bomere Heath school also joined us at Church to work through hands-on activities to develop their understanding – a super morning was had by all! Thank you to the team from the Church for their effort in creating this workshop.

Sports News
This week saw a group of Year 4/5/6 children head off to the Corbet School for the School Games Competion. Our team played brilliantly and were very proud to WIN their group stage! The organiser commented on their talent and skills too. They were unfortunate to go out in the semi-final, but very much made Ruyton proud! Well done team!

EFL Kids Cup @ Shrewsbury Town
We were delighted to be invited to the EFL Kids Cup at Shrewsbury Town to take part in a football tournament against other Shropshire schools.
Our team this year are working so hard in matches, with particular courage shown by our five Year 4 boys who are facing players two years older than themselves! But we don’t let this stop us at Ruyton 🙂
Although we didn’t win on the day, a great time was had and staff were impressed by the teamwork and sportsmanship shown. Well done team!

Finally, a big well done to India and Amber who asked to perform some poetry they have written themselves following their work in English this week. Not only was the poetry (about endangered species) high quality work, but they delivered it with clarity, expression and off-by-heart!
Tag Rugby Tournament
Our Year 5/6 Tag Rugby team participated in the local area competition this week. They thoroughly enjoyed their morning getting covered in mud and refining their rugby skills with three other local primaries! Well done to the squad for such a great effort.
‘Wear It Pink’ Celebrations!
We had a fantastic end to the week last week embracing all things PINK for Breast Cancer Now’s ‘Wear It Pink’ campaign. We want to thank everybody for their very generous donations of money, cake and for really getting into the spirit of all things pink! Mrs Bradshaw was the driving force behind this event and she deserves a very special thank you for her energy, enthusiasm and organisation to make this such a successful event. We managed to raise a staggering £476.69!!!

We have had the BEST couple of days in school to finish the week with our “Wear it pink for Breast Cancer Awareness” Celebrations! We can’t thank everyone enough for the donations of money, cakes and overall ‘pinkness’! This event has been inspired by our very own Mrs Bradshaw and her ‘happy’ cancer story; we wish to make a very special thank you to her for all her energy and ideas to transform our school into a happy, pink and cake-filled paradise!
We look forward to announcing the grand total of fundraising very soon.

Zander brought us in lots of medals he had won over the years. His most recent medal was for his excellent effort in football, well done Zander!
Panathlon Bowling Event @ Shrewsbury
We were excited to be able to send a squad of 18 of our Year 3/4/5/6 children to a Panathlon Bowling event at Hollywood Bowl, Shrewsbury, recently. The event aimed to provide a wider range of children the opportunity to participate in a competitive event but in a friendly, fun atmosphere, whilst learning skills on bowling along the way!
Our staff were very proud of all our pupils and how they conducted themselves throughout the event, showing all our values in sportsmanship. Well done team!
