Football Friendly ⚽️ ⚽️⚽️

We had a fantastic afternoon today as Baschurch brought two football teams for a set of matches. Ruyton kicked off with a great 2-0 win, followed by a Baschurch penalty in the second game leading to a 1-0 Baschurch win. The last two games were both at 0-0!

A brilliant effort from all the boys from both schools; it was fantastic to see such talent and effort.

A special thank you to ex-pupil (and football legend!) Will Thomas and his friend Sam who came and refereed the matches. Superstars!

The Village Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

It was just wonderful to see the school grounds filled with so many people enjoying the Village Jubilee Celebrations on Saturday. On behalf of the school, we would like to say a huge well done and thank you to the organisers for bringing everyone together – this includes our Chair of Governors, Keith Lister, and his wife Alyson. Alyson also continues to help keep our sensory garden which many people commented on as we all enjoyed the school grounds in the sunshine. We thank you both. In case you missed it, here is the School Hall and our children’s work in all its royal glory !

Jubilee Picnic 🇬🇧 👑

We enjoyed a delicious Jubilee Picnic on the last day of half term – the sun shone as we replenished our energy levels after the Fun Run! As you can see; it was red, white and blue with smiles all round!
We hope you enjoy your Platinum Jubilee celebrations as much as we did in school this week.

Jubilee Fun Run

We had a brilliant day of Jubilee celebrations on Friday with a Jubilee Fun Run! Dressed in red, white and blue, the whole school got warmed up and took part in a sponsored run, organised by the Friends of Ruyton.

We were delighted to welcome Mr & Mrs Gittins to the event to not only start the races, but join in too!

Thank you to Mr & Mrs Gittins for spending the morning with the children and also Mrs Aspinall & Mrs Beddoes for their help on the day. We can’t wait to find out how much money was raised!

Planting sunflowers for Science!

Owls became gardeners this afternoon as we planted sunflower seeds as part of our science topic. They were named (‘Crumpet’, ‘Coutinho’, ‘Sun Drop’, ‘Bob’ and ‘Loki’ to name a few!) and a few magic touches made in hope they become the tallest in class! We will be observing the growth stages as they progress and learning about life cycles. We can’t wait to see these bloom having chosen them with thought to the Ukraine.

Cross-curricular Art / RE

As part of our RE topic, ‘Creation & Science: Conflicting or Complementary?’, we have been learning how to use acrylic paints on fabric to create a new wall-hanging which will tell the Christian story of Creation, according to Genesis. Owls were encouraged to think about symbols and colour which would reflect the meaning of each day of the Creation story.

We look forward to seeing the final product!
