Our brilliant school cook, Paula, presented the children with their new plates and bowls for Dragonfly and Owl Class, with thanks to the Friends for this donation. The children can’t wait to use them!

The Tag Rugby Team were celebrated for their brilliant achievements this week, coming 2nd in the large schools Tag Rugby competition.

Forest School Fun!

In science, we have been learning about the properties of different materials. We’ve been looking at waterproof and not waterproof materials in particular. Hedgehog Homework Reminder

Just a polite reminder to parents of children in Hedgehog Class that homework should be given in every Monday unless otherwise stated please. It is important that the children regularly complete their homework to support their learning in class and hand it in on time so that staff have time to mark their books before handing them back out on a Wednesday.

Science

Today in Science, we were carrying on with our work on investigating the properties of everyday materials. Mrs Farmer gave us some magnets and we started our session by investigating which objects and materials in our classroom are magnetic and which ones are not…

Then we were set a challenge… We had to get the paperclip out of the jug of water without getting our hands wet. It was quite tricky but we worked it out eventually!

Finally, we had to design and make our own game using what we have learnt. Our only specific instruction was that we had to use magnetic materials.

Junk Modelling

This afternoon, Hedgehog Class have been busy making jellyfish from junk modelling materials. We had been learning about what Christians believe about God which incorporated the story of Creation. We chose jellyfish as one of the many creatures that Christians believe God created and tried to create our own. A few of us were surprised that when we created an animal, it didn’t start moving and breathing!

Worship Council led our first Celebration Assembly of 2019 this morning.

Acorn Awards

Our Acorn Tree is ready to be filled with all the achievements of the children in the Spring Term ahead. Congratulations to Coton Blue Team who won the House Points Award for Autumn Term and enjoyed a ‘Tob Table’ dinner before Christmas. Who will win the Spring award?

Children in Need

Fun & Games School Council celebrated receiving a certificate from Children in Need following their fundraising efforts in Autumn Term. It confirmed a whopping £292.15 had been raised! Well done to all the children for a great effort.

Food Bank Donation

Weekly celebrations: Performances, Golden Book, Values, Fundraising & the Sheila Fields Award

Today we celebrated the KS1 children and their brilliant performance of Ralph the Reindeer; Hedgehog and Rabbit classes did a super job – we are very proud of you.

The children have given us plenty of cause for celebration this week…

We were very proud to share Ellie Gittins earning the Sheila Fields Award from Baschurch Tennis Club for “good manners, helping others and being an all round lovely human!” We are so proud of you Ellie!

Oli Ward also received an award from Baschurch Tennis Club for ‘Most Improved Player’. Well done Oli!

Christmas at forest school!

Hedgehogs have just arrived back from a fantastic forest school session where we were busy making a Christmas tree from sticks that we found in the woods. Kris brought some Christmas lights with him as well. We held a Hedgehog Class Christmas light switch on! Here we are with our finished tree…
