Hedgehogs Home Learning Thursday 21st May 2020

Hello Hedgehogs

Please find all of your activities for today below. Lots of parents have said that they like the phonics video’s Miss Horton has been using and so I have included this today too.

We are continuing to use Oak Academy for English lessons and White Rose for Maths as this will provide consistency in what we are setting and make sure that each lesson builds on skills and learning from the previous day or week, as well as introducing new topics appropriately.

As always, please get in touch if we can support you with these tasks and keep sending the photos in!

Find some leaves from your garden or when you go on a walk. Using a little twig, tie some string or wool to the end and see if you can push it through the leaves to thread them together. Can you use different colours and shapes of leaves?

Well Being Wednesday – from Mrs Viner

Well-being Wednesday
Good Morning 👋 all and what a lovely day it is! ☀️ The sun always makes me feel happy!
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and the topic this year is Kindness.

Over the last few months I have not only seen many acts of kindness in the news (Captain Tom) and the community, I to have tried to play my part by being kind to others, by helping get shopping to some elderly people in our village and telephoning relatives who are on their own.

The added benefit of helping others is that it is good for our own mental health and wellbeing.

It would be lovely if this week, you could share with me any acts of kindness that you have shown someone, or that have been done to you.

Just remember giving someone a smile 😁 or a wave 👋 could really make their day!

Take care and stay safe,
Mrs Viner 😃

Hedgehogs Home Learning – Monday 17th May

Good Morning Hedgehogs 🙂

I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend! It was lovely to speak to some of you and your parents last week. It sounds like you’ve all been busy doing lots of fun activities at home, from gardening to learning to ride your bikes! I’ve had a visit from a chaffinch, it keeps tapping and flying into the window – I think it thinks it’s reflection is another chaffinch! It woke me up at 5am on Saturday morning!

It’s beak must be getting a bit sore! If you have any ideas on how to stop it, I’d love to hear them!!

Science: What do plants need to survive? Have a look at this video to see what plants need to grow.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/science-ks1-ks2-ivys-plant-workshop-what-do-plants-need-to-survive/zkw2gwx

See how much you can remember from the video and fill in this sheet about what plants need. What do plants need to survive?

If you want to do some extra work, see if you can make your own science experiment. Put one plant somewhere dark, one plant somewhere light and give them both the same amount of water and see which one grows better – which one do you think will survive?

Can you think of another experiment to test what plants need to survive?

Remember you can complete activities from the activity menu anytime you like.
