Forces in action… plus a work-out!

In science we’ve had great fun exploring our new topic: Forces. The children had to create examples of forces in action in our playground; the children’s questions and ideas led to ‘planking’ and feeling our body weight in full force against gravity. A very healthy science investigation!

Morning Worship

Mrs Ball continued to explore this term’s chosen School Value of ‘trust’ in Worship this morning. Lily S narrated a story about Gideon from the Bible whilst a team of actors performed some great drama.

Mrs Ball also presented a Headteacher’s Award to Seren and Amber from Hedgehogs who participated and helped at the Village Homegrown Show at the weekend; well done to the girls and all the children whose artwork went on display.

Well done Coton!

Class Acts 2018

Our Year 4 and 5 violinists put on a stunning show at Theatre Severn on Tuesday evening at the annual Class Acts performance organised by Shropshire Music Service. Many schools collaborated on stage to put on a show with 100 children playing together. Thank you to all the parents and families who came to support the event, and a huge ‘well done’ to our talented children for the show they provided.

Homework – School of Rock!

Dragonflies created an environmentally friendly rock-band this week! We had cardboard guitars and mop-bucket harps in our ensemble which we then used to learn about ‘volume’ and ‘pitch’ for our science topic of ‘sound’!

Many pupils showed their creativity and imagination with these brilliant instruments made from recycled materials… great effort!

Congratulations to Ffion who smashed our times tables challenge this week! Ffion chose to practise the grid 13 times over the previous two evenings alone – brilliant determination!

Well done to all the children in Dragonfly Class who continue to ‘beat the grid’  – a confident knowledge of multiplication tables really helps in many areas of maths as so many of the children have discovered. Superstars!

Liverpool 2018

Year 4’s in Dragonfly Class joined up with the Year 4 children from Bomere Heath to enjoy a fantastic three-day residential trip to Liverpool in June. They visited Space Port, the World Museum & Art Gallery, the Cathedral, the Metropolitan Cathedral plus the Synagogue whilst they also had the chance to sail on the Mersey, experience the Liverpool Eye plus much more! Our children had a wonderful trip and the staff were very proud of them all; enjoy the photos!
