Ofsted Report: Good with Outstanding features including Outstanding Early Years provision!

We are delighted to share the report following our recent Ofsted inspection (5/6th March). I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your help, support and dedication to enable this report to be such a super reflection of the work in our school.

I am sure you will also join me in saying a massive well done to both pupils and staff for the hard work over the past years to achieve this outcome.

As you can see, we now have a number of aspects judged outstanding – this is testament to the developments and changes which have been put in place over a number of years and again, I would like to say a big thank you to all who have shared their suggestions and worked with us to make this develop so positively for the children in our school.

Best wishes,

Julie Ball
Executive Headteacher

Red Nose Day 2019

Thank you for all the donations for Comic Relief on Friday; the school looked brilliant as a sea of red and over £105 was raised! The children were very proud to be sporting painted noses instead of plastic ones; Eco Team (school Council) thanked everyone for supporting this campaign and sharing an important message.

Bishop Michael of Lichfield visits Ruyton

On Friday (15th March) we were honoured to welcome Bishop Michael from Lichfield Cathedral to our school. He delivered our morning Worship and spent the morning in school, meeting the children and enjoying their work.

Daniel explained, “I felt really lucky that he came to our school. His Worship story about his Bishop’s crook was so interesting!”

The Worship Council gave their thanks to Bishop Michael for taking time to visit our school and answer children’s questions.

Careers Morning

Reported and edited by Dragonfly Class…

This morning was amazing because we were able to learn about jobs we could do in the future. Years 1-6 enjoyed six different workshops delivered by guests from different companies, including: the RAF, Kier Construction, Maelstrom Event Solutions, Ark stained glass windows, newspaper editor Shirley Tart MBE and an outdoor adventures instructor.

We were particularly excited to meet Shirley Tart MBE who has met the Queen! She had some interesting stories to tell about the Royal events she has been to including Prince Charles and Diana’s wedding. This was extra-special because today is also International Women’s Day and Shirley has achieved a lot in her life as a newspaper editor.

Chloe reported, “it was very exciting!” whilst Charlie L explained how he was “able to think about working for different companies and getting jobs when we’re older.”

Jamie: “We learnt a lot, including that in ten years there will be new helicopter launched without a pilot!

Leo: “It was so interesting to see the new vehicles that there could be in the future like  a huge drone.”

Grace: “It was very interesting to ask questions and hear surprising answers!”

Abbie: “I found out that instead of one big job there were lots of little jobs that helped the big job.”

Oliver: “We were very lucky to have all these people come to our school.”

Thank you to all our careers visitors – we learned so much!

Forest School

Owls & Dragonflies concluded their Forest Schools sessions this week with a fun-filled final session where Kris tested their completed dens with a bucket of water! Luckily, no one got too wet and the structures proved very successful. We toasted marshmallows, investigated plant life and also enjoyed a maths lesson with ‘Eeyore’ and ‘Tigger’ where we learned about the area and perimeter of Forest School.

Well done to all the children for such an enjoyable project at Forest Schools where teamwork and friendship shone. Thank you to all our parent helpers who have supported these sessions along the way.

Pancake flipping!

Reuben and Charlie showed us their pancake flipping skills this morning as we learned about Shrove Tuesday and its meaning during our morning worship. Pancake Policeman Arthur was on-hand to judge the event: twenty-one flips in thirty seconds… Wow!

The children finished by thinking about Lent and its Christian traditions, along with deeper thought about what it would mean to give up some of our favourite things…
