We had a super day on World Book Day. We shared our favourite stories, we had a book scavenger hunt, we took part in a BBC teach live lesson with lots of other schools all about stories and how they are structured and we even got to have story time with Mrs Ball!
Thomas and Devon in Dragonfly Class have been busy taking care of our community by picking up litter over half term.
Thomas picked up a staggering 2kg of litter from just one walk over The Cliffe and is planning to collect more.
Devon has picked up litter from along the Ruyton road to Baschurch and filled at least 7 bags!
We are very proud of their superb efforts to make the world a tidier place. Well done Thomas and Devon.
Hi Dragonfly Class, I hope you have had a lovely half term holiday. Don’t forget to wear your PE kit tomorrow (Monday 28th February) for our first Reading the Game session. See you tomorrow, Mrs Hollis
As part of our work on rocks in Dragonfly Class, we had a go at making our own fossils.
First, we made a mould by pressing shells or dinosaurs into plasticine and placing the mould into a tray. The next step was for Mrs Hollis to mix up some Plaster of Paris and pour it into the moulded plasticine (she did this when we were out of the room as it can get a little messy and very warm while it is setting). Finally, the next day, we were able to ‘excavate’ our fossil by removing the plasticine. The results are brilliant!
Thank you Charley for bringing in some amazing minibeasts to show Dragonfly Class. We saw some very interesting (and speedy) beetles, a millipede and a larva. Fascinating Charley, thank you again.
Hello Dragonflies, we really enjoyed having you back in class last week. We have lots of fun and exciting things happening this term. Have a look at our class newsletter and our topic planner to find out more!
On our final day of term, we would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year.
We were very sad to miss out on live performances this Christmas, but we hope we can make this up a little with these THREE fantastic films below! Please enjoy a little Christmas present from us to you!
With love from all at St John’s x
