Rabbits end this half term having written some beautiful travel poetry, shape poetry and poems about India.  We also wrote reports about Victorian toys, made pinwheels and Year 2 made Zeotropes using careful drawings in a frame by frame sequence.

In Maths it was all about measuring recently and the children loved making dastardly potions using vile ingredients that were measured very carefully by everyone.  We experimented with weighing bags, objects and measuring out water in different size containers.

Our Victorian project continues next half term with a look at the Victorian High Street and learning some songs and dances from the period.

HALF TERM HOMEWORK FOR RABBITS

We are continuing with measurement when we return therefore:

Your project is to look at all the measurements you can see in the streets and towns around you.  This might be a road sign with a speed limit, or a sign telling you how far to the next exit (in km or miles).  Can you keep a diary of all the weird and wonderful measurements you can find.  You might also see measurements in shops, on sides of bottles and cans.  Make a list of all the things that you can see.  Prizes for the most WEIRD!

Complete the table in your homework books:

Rabbits Class Homework

This week we began our maths topic on Measurement.  For homework, can the children please find a recipe at home.  Write out the recipe and note down the measurements used, this can be either grams and kilograms or other measures such as teaspoons, cups, pinches etc.

Can they please copy out the recipe in their homework books.

Children MUST read to you or another person over the weekend and make a note of this in their reading diaries. Please then ensure both reading books and diaries are in school each day.

We are challenging the children to find a ‘fun’ or ‘silly’ time to read to another person – for example while someone is cooking the dinner – sitting in the kitchen reading. Alternatively reading to a sibling while they take a bath, reading while waiting for a bus – the children can find a fun time and place to read.

Spellings are listed on the spellings page.
