We’re straight back to it in Hedgehog Class this morning with maths. This morning, we have been learning to identify units of repeating patterns. We then had a go at making our own repeating patterns!

This term, the children in Hedgehog Class have been learning about “special places”. Our work has included learning about the features of a church and those of a mosque. Today, the children were set a challenge to make a model of a church or a model of a mosque using everything that they have learnt about churches and mosques this term. I think they all did a fantastic job!
Our friends from the church came in this morning for Open the Book. This morning, we were learning and thinking about the story “Jesus Calms the Storm” which links with our school value focus for this month, “Peace”.
Well done and thank you to the adult volunteers as well as the volunteers in Owl Class!
This week at forest school, the children were given some photographs of different woodland flowers that they then had to go and find in the Drumbles. When they had found each flower, they had to match it to the right name and description. We even managed to find a yellow archangel; a flowering plant that we haven’t seen at the Drumbles for a couple of years!
Last week, the children got to make nettle soup using the nettles they had collected the week before. They enjoyed cooking over the campfire and although only a few of them actually liked the taste of the soup, most of them did try it!
The children in Hedgehog Class were pretending to be tigers this week, continuing their fantastic work on climbing. It’s amazing how their confidence has grown over the term!
Next week, we are planning on making some nettle soup at forest school on our camp fire. In preparation for this, the children all made some nettle nippers using willow today. They were then able to use these to pick some fresh nettles that we will use in our soup next week. They were all fantastic at using the tools and being careful using the nettle nippers.
This term in PE, we are using the equipment for PE. Today, we were learning to slither like snakes up the equipment as well as learning to jump safely. I think the children are enjoying this unit!
This week, Hedgehog Class are learning the story “Jack and the Beanstalk”. They have planted their own “beanstalks” and learnt what plants need to grow. They can’t wait to see what happens over the next few weeks!
Our friends from the church came in this morning to do another whole school Open the Book. This morning, they performed the story of “The Unforgiving Servant” with some help from a few children in Owl Class. This helped us reflect on our school value of the month “Forgiveness”.
