Festival of Culture & Ruyton’s Lantern

Year 4 had a fantastic, action-packed day at the ‘Festival of Culture’ at the Marches school. Hands-on workshops included drumming, street-dancing, Fair Trade, ‘Around the World’ and drama, whilst we were also treated to a brilliant drumming performance plus a presentation by Wolverhampton school children who shared their religious beliefs and culture. Having made our own ‘lantern’ in school we then had the opportunity to swap our light creations with another school. Our children worked with great enthusiasm and made the most of the brilliant opportunities on offer; well done Year 4!

Cross Country Race 2

Well done to all the runners this evening who participated in the second cross country event – an amazing 28 children chose to take part! Individual race times have been logged and are ready to get beaten next week! Thank you to all the families for their continued support with these events; lots of encouragement and pride all round today. Go team Ruyton!

Art Workshop

Year 4 began to create two special projects this morning; one for Remembrance and a second in preparation for their Festival of Culture trip on Thursday.  Watch this space for the final creations – the children have thoroughly enjoyed spending time reflecting on these causes as they worked.

Peace Workshop 6.11.18

Today Year 5 and 6 took part in a peace workshop led by Reverend Burns.  The activities centered on exploring peace and remembrance in commemoration of the centenary of the end of World War I.  We found it particularly poignant to discover more about the people behind the names on the war memorial.IMG_1426 IMG_1427 IMG_1428 IMG_1429
