Well done to everyone who has been competing for your Houses. Here are the results of the first half of this times tables season! A clean sweep by Tedsmore but a last minute gain to 2nd place by Wykey!
The second session now begins. Good luck!
The League Table (5 points for a win, 3 points for half score or more, 1 point for scoring 100)
I hope you all enjoyed the VE Day celebrations on Friday in some way; it was a pleasure to see houses decorated with bunting and flags as I enjoyed my morning run – true British spirit! Otherwise I’ve been lost in a book this weekend… it’s one of those books that I can’t put down and I’m totally lost in the story all about children in World War II. I hope you’re all getting the chance to get stuck into some good books too!
This week we are going to begin with a focus on Florence Nightingale whose birthday Is May 12th. She is particularly significant at the moment with the Nightingale Hospitals being built in her name… I wonder why she is so important?
Here are your learning activities for today:
Reading: Try out these activities (three different level, 1 star being easier)
Spellings: Access the link below for your year group and learn the set list. You could print the handwriting sheet OR present it in your Homework Pack.
3. Maths: Complete the White Rose Maths activity for your year group. To access the related video, go to the usual White Rose page through the link below. You will need to go to Summer Term week 4, day 1 today.
It’s research time! One of the skills we practise in Year 4/5 is note-taking – developing the ability to write key points down which can be used at a later date.
I would like you to make your own Florence Nightingale ‘notes’ page – remember, it doesn’t have to look pretty, but you must be able to read what you’ve put and be prepared to produce something using your notes tomorrow!
This website has got lots of good information to get you started:
PSHE – these will be here all week for you to keep thinking about…
PSHE: The lesson powerpoint below has got some fantastic questions for you to think about today involving ‘relationships’ under lockdown, whilst the attached activities are also well-worth a look-through.
To commemorate VE Day, local reporter Charlie L has sent another great news broadcast showing the decorations put up around Ruyton. Thank you Ruyton News team.

This is our last day of our ‘school week’ this week as tomorrow is VE Day Bank Holiday. I look forward to hearing how you commemorated VE Day and hope you have chance to finish any projects from our school activity menu below.

It has been great to see so many posts from across the classes of people being inspired by VE Day. Noah has written a brilliant poem including lots of thoughtful images and a very poignant final stanza. Well done Noah.
Rory has been getting really creative over the last few weeks and entered lots of online photography competitions. Each one had a different theme including ‘Close up’, ‘Selfie’ and ‘Silhouette’; the latter photo won first prize and features Rory’s other passion – mountain biking. These are fab Rory; congratulations and I hope to see lots more.
I’m sure you will all agree that this artwork from Izzy is superb. Thank you for sending this in Izzy – I think you may inspire some of your friends with this one…!
