Dragonfly Class – Monday 8th June

Morning all šŸ™‚

How have your weekends been? It seems to have flown by for me. I’ve had a couple of little runs with Briar – one where I heard a voice calling, “Hey Miss Whit!” Just in time I saw Archie waving – it was lovely to see him having fun outside but Briar had no intention of stopping! I hope you’ve all had something to smile about šŸ™‚

Here are today’s activities:

  1. English: Here is your final lesson on News Reports to complete last week’s sequence of work. I look forward to seeing what you have been able to produce!

Other ideas:

  1. PE:Ā Usually on a Monday we have our PE lessons so make a good effort on some sporting activity to day if you can! How about a good walk or bike ride?

2. World Oceans Day:Ā Having read about this event in your reading activity, can you now create a piece of art / craft to bring attention to World Ocean Day. I’m in school today however if I had the time at home I would try making a turtle puppet using the instructions from the puppetry website that Anouk shared last week.. You could create a persuasive video or a poster – it’s up to you.

Happy Monday,

Miss Whit šŸ™‚

Dragonfly Class – Tuesday 2nd June

Morning all,

A quick thank you to Torin & his mum who notified me that they couldn’t find the classwork yesterday – I’m not sure if it was the same for everyone, apologies if so, but once they’d given me a quick heads up their problem was sorted. Please do give us a shout if there are any issues! We had a busy day in school yesterday – it was lovely to see all the teachers and TAs and talk about all of YOU! We very much look forward to your laughter and voices filling the classrooms again.Ā Mrs O says a huge ‘hello’ to each of you too! (She has curly hair and looked very glam!)

Here are your learning activities for today:

  1. Reading:Ā Bitesize had a great activity on the last day of last half term… I know some of you have even been getting the books to continue reading once you’ve completed these tasks! Have a go yourself by following the links:

2. Spellings:Ā Access the link below for your year group and learn the set list.Ā You could print the handwriting sheet OR present it in your Homework Pack.

See the links below.

Option 1: Year 4 Bitesize (brackets)Ā orĀ Year 5 Bitesize

Option 2:Ā Lesson 1 – News Reports

Other ideas for Tuesday:

  • PE:Ā Do what you can to get in your hour of exercise. I’ll be going for a bike ride today plus a dog walk later šŸ™‚
  • TT Rockstars:Ā  The Inter House TournamentĀ  continues – your next match against each house! Play ‘Battle’ to earn your team points.
  • Geography:

Check out the Geography learning on Bitesize today which is all about weather and climate. This is particularly significant at the moment as we are experiencing such hot, dry weather – I believe May was the driest since 1896! It’s causing a huge amount of difficulties for farmers too;Ā the crops aren’t growing and the soil is desperately dry. As a task, could you present a weather videoĀ  to teach your viewers what the weather has been like, the current situation and maybe even forecast what it’s going to be like this week? Good luck! (I always wanted to be a weather presenter when I was little!)

Have a great day – remember your suncream and hats!

Activity idea for everyone from Anouk: Puppetry!

Anouk has sent in a link to a brilliant website which is full of ideas linking to puppetry, in case this interests you.

https://www.beverleypuppetfestival.com/activities

I think the leatherback turtle puppet looks amazing! I’d love to make this, although I have a feeling my skills will begin with the ‘potato monsters’ or ‘playing with food’!
