Athletics success!
We are SO proud to announce the success of our Athletics team at the Sportshall Athletics today. We sent a Girls Squad and Boys Squad to participate in a series of relays and fielding events including javelin, long jump and speed jumps.
Against local schools, the Boys Team were overall WINNERS! They stormed to victory and represented Ruyton fantastically – Miss Ryan couldn’t believe how fast they all were.
Our Girls Team were victorious in a different way: with only 5 girls in Year 5 and 6 (all of whom got stuck in and participated), the remaining squad were made up with two Year 3s and a Year 4! Incredible achievement for a group of children who were representing their school for the first time at this kind of event.
Finally, a huge congratulations to individual winners: Mia (Y5) Chest Push, Matthew (Y6) Vertical Jump, Noah (Y6) Speed Bounce, and Charley (Y3) Javelin!
You made all the children and staff so proud. Thank you Team Ruyton!

Times Tables:
We are having more of a focus on times table knowledge in class. This is for two reasons: firstly, pupils are expected to know all tables facts up to 12 x 12 fluently by the end of Year 4 and secondly, they will find so many aspects of maths easier with a quicker recall of these facts. Therefore, we will be completing activities in school as well as sending weekly sheets looking at times tables and related division facts. Children will move onto the next sheet up when they have achieved full marks in school. There will not be a time limit on completing the sheets in school. TTRockstars is also excellent for practising times tables and can be used at anytime at home.
1) Please complete the times table sheet given out in class and return it to school stuck in your homework book.
Spellings:
1) Complete the spelling sheet in your neatest handwriting and return it to school stuck in your homework book.
Your homework is due in on Wednesday 1st December
If you have any queries, please contact Mrs Hollis or Miss Horton.
Our Owl Encounter
Today we had a fantastic visit from Lisa at Shropshire Falconry to help us with our English unit on ‘The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark’. She brought along 5 different species of owls for us to look at: Chris (a White-faced Owl), Alfie (a Tawny Owl), Serverus (a Black Barn Owl), Fraggle (a Chaco Owl) and Solo (a Great Horned Owl). She told us lots of fascinating facts about Owls and we were able to see these magnificent birds up close; some of us were even lucky enough to hold one.

Children in Need 2021 – the grand total!
We had the BEST day of sparkle and shine on Friday for Children in Need and we are delighted to announce we raised a whopping £116.05! An incredible total for our small school.
Thank you to everyone who donated, glittered-up and then cleaned-up afterwards!

Maths:
1) This week, we have set 2 activities to be completed on MyMaths. Both tasks are revision of times tables. You will need the login details sent out in your homework book at the start of the term.
2) Login to TTRockstars again and spend at least 15 minutes working on quick recall using the ‘Garage’ section.
Your homework is due in on Wednesday 24th November. Feedback for the mymaths tasks will be logged through that site.
If you have any issues logging in to either site, please contact Mrs Hollis or Miss Horton.
Remembrance Display
If passing through the village this weekend, please take a moment to enjoy our Remembrance Poetry.
Remembrance Poetry
All classes have been thinking about Remembrance this week. Here is a selection of Remembrance poetry written (with more to come!) by Owl Class and inspired by a variety of war poets we have explored. I think you will agree, they are fantastic.
