Winston’s Wish is a fantastic charity which supports children and young people through bereavement. They have released the information in the link below for any parents and carers who wish to know more about how to support their children following the death of the Queen. Please do contact school if you would like any further support in this.

Homegrown Show this Sunday!
Message from the friends.
Hi All, welcome back to the new term. We all hope you had a lovely summer and are settling in well to the new term. The Friends look forward to meeting all our new parents (and will organise an event to meet everybody very soon). In the meantime please can we draw your attention to the village Home Grown Show happening this Sunday at 2.30pm at the village hall. We very much hope you will come along to support the show and all of the children of St John have got artwork on display at the show that they created last term under the theme “the commonwealth”. It will be being judged and winners chosen on the day. I’m sure your children will love to see it on display for everyone and be proud to show it off to you too. Please do come along if you can make it. We look forward to seeing you there. The Friends.
Queen Elizabeth II
At St John the Baptist C.E Primary School we are all deeply saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
We shall remember her service through our learning and Worship, and consider how as our Queen she was the embodiment of, and a role model for, our school values of Love, Hope and Respect. We will be thankful for the times that we have been able to come together as a community to celebrate Royal jubilees, birthdays and weddings.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our new King, Charles III, along with the wider Royal Family as they mourn the loss of a beloved mother and grandmother.
Welcome back Dragonfly Class!
Welcome back Dragonfly Class; we hope that you have had a fantastic holiday and are excited for the new school year. We have really missed you and can’t wait to hear what you have been up to.
Autumn 2022 Topic planner Dragonfly class 2
We have got a lot of exciting work planned. Our main topic title for this term is: ‘Earth Matters’. This will cover lots of different aspects from learning about geographical formations such as mountains and volcanoes, to earthquakes and finally finding out about what causes tsunamis. Our art topic is linked to ‘Earth Matters’ as we will be looking at examples of collages before making a volcano inspired one of our own. In DT, we will explore different types of packaging before making our own. Our Science units are focused on learning all about magnets and light. During our RE lessons for the first half of term, we will be answering the question, ‘What is it like to follow God?’ whilst in the second half, we will be thinking about ‘What do Hindus believe God is like?’. Through our PSHE sessions, we will be discussing ‘Relationships’ and taking part in Anti-Bullying Week. Our computing time will be spent initially discussing the importance of e-safety then moving onto research and communication.
Homework will be set on a Thursday and is due in the following Wednesday. Our PE days will be Tuesday with Miss Ryan and Friday with Miss Lloyd-Jones. Please make sure that you come to school in your PE kit on those days.
Enjoy the term and welcome back everyone!
Mrs Hollis and Miss Lloyd-Jones

DT
Last week, we began looking at different types of chairs to start off our new DT topic. You all had so many great ideas to improve the examples that we looked at that so this week, we would like you to draw a design for a new chair. Think about who the chair is for so that you can adapt your design to suit them. What colour will it be? What will it be made of? It could have all sorts of handy gadgets too! Good luck!
Please bring in your homework by Wednesday 6th July.
If you have any queries, please contact Mrs Hollis or Miss Horton.
