Headteacher’s Welcome
On behalf of St John the Baptist CE Primary School & Nursery, I would like to welcome you to our school website.
Our Outstanding Nursery and Early Years (Reception) classes (Ofsted 2019) are at the very beginning of high quality education offered by our school; we are open for pupils from 2 to 11 years old.
St John the Baptist CE Primary School is a small village primary school with an outstanding integrated nursery, where the children are at the heart of everything we do. We are very proud of the family atmosphere we foster in and around school and the kind, caring, motivated pupils, who learn in an inclusive, nurturing and Christian environment. At St John’s, our key values of ‘Love, Hope and Respect’ permeate everything we do. We understand that all pupils are different and have a range of needs, therefore we ensure that their work is planned carefully to ensure they may reach their full potential.
Our School Vision;
‘with God all things are possible’
Matthew 19:26
Our school nurtures all pupils and those in our school community to flourish as individuals; educationally, spiritually and morally, promoting Christian values through the experience we offer to all.
We really value the relationship between school and parents and carers and we are always happy to welcome parents and carers into school to celebrate achievements, share experiences and provide support for our children. Furthermore, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. St John the Baptist CE Primary School & Nursery is part of the Bomere and the XI Towns Federation alongside Bomere Heath CE Primary School.
If you are moving to the area and considering us as the school for your child, we would be delighted to show you around. Please see the contacts page for details of how to get in touch.
We hope that you enjoy this website and find it both informative and useful.
Academisation
We are now part of Shropshire Church of England Academies Trust
We are delighted to have joined the Shropshire Church of England Academies Trust as of the 1st February 2025, as one of the eight founding schools.
Shropshire Church of England Academies Trust (SCEAT) is a joint partnership between Hereford Diocese and Lichfield Diocese. Incorporated in July 2024, with the founding group of eight primary schools joining in the Spring term 2025, the Trust’s vision is to provide high quality, fully inclusive learning opportunities to children across the early years and primary age ranges.
At the heart of our school improvement strategy is a commitment to achieving a school-led system in order to promote and secure outstanding levels of achievement for all children. The Trust has created three geographical hubs of schools across Shropshire which are built upon a successful model of collaborative working and affords schools an opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of working closely with colleagues in other neighbouring schools who are part of the Trust. While each of the schools in the Trust is unique, and retains its own identity within its community, we understand that the mutual challenge, support and partnership that we offer each other as a Trust working together, will enable our schools to flourish.
Sharing our Christian values, being warm and welcoming to all, knowing our children and their families well and a strong emphasis on meeting the pastoral needs of pupils are at the heart of our Trust’s ethos.
Julie Ball.
